First of all, it consumes a lot less data than streaming video. We are talking about the amount of data going this way in kbps (Kilobits Per Second). Quality can be selected from Level 4 of the Spotify Android App. They are Low (24kbps), Normal (96kbps), High (160kbps) and Very high (320kbps). In addition, there is an option called Automatic so that the quality is automatically selected according to the connection of the phone.
Below is a note on how long it takes to spend per minute, hour and 1GB on each quality to make it easier to understand. Remember this is just a rough idea. Spotify caches the songs you listen to most of the time, then the data consumption can be further reduced.

You can see that this is a much lower rate than streaming video. Maybe the ISP in Sri Lanka will introduce unlimited data packages for Spotify as well. Apple Music, the other popular music streaming platform in Sri Lanka, has a maximum quality of 256kbps. A little less than Spotify. But if you see a difference, you have to use very high quality listening equipment. Another thing is that we can download the required songs from Spotify premium plans. Then we will have the opportunity to enjoy songs even without an internet connection.
