Microsoft විසින් මේ නව design ආකෘතිය යොදා ගැනීම ආරම්භ කළේ Office icons redesign කිරීමත් සමඟයි. එයට පසු Windows Core Apps (Calendar සහ Mail) යනාදියට මෙම නව design එක පැමිණි අතර දැන් අලුතෙන්ම file explorer සඳහාත් මේ නව icons හඳුන්වා දී තිබෙනවා.
Folder icons are designed to be easy to identify at once. You can also see some changes in the Recycle Bin icon.
